A Durham Public Schools assistant principal has been charged with attempted rape.

LOUIS RAY HARRISON
Louis Ray Harrison, age 48, was arrested on June 7 and charged with attempted second-degree forcible rape and felony breaking and entering with intent to terrorize or injure.
The offenses allegedly took place on Mar. 21 at a residence located on Four Seasons Drive.
Harrison was given a $150,000 unsecured bond which he posted and was released the same day as his arrest. His next court appearance is on June 26.
At the time of his arrest, he had already resigned, according to Durham Public Schools.
Durham Public Schools indicated Harrison was suspended with pay on March 22, the day after the alleged incident occurred. Harrison stayed off Hillsdale school grounds and later submitted his resignation effective June 30.
Harrison had been the assistant principal and head football coach at Hillside High School.
As of the publication of this article, his bio was still active on the Durham Public Schools website and says he was a science teacher at Hillside from 2003 to 2009 before joining the district’s administrative team in 2014. Harrison was also a head coach at Hillside since 2016, but also between 2004 and 2008.

In 2020, Hillsdale High’s Twitter account congratulated Harrison for being sworn in with the National Guard and receiving a full scholarship to UNC Chapel Hill.
Harrison holds an active NC teaching license in the areas of School Administrator: Principal, Science: Biology 9-12, and Science 6-9. The license oddly shows an effective date for next month of July 1, 2023, and an expiration date of June 30, 2028.
