David Keandre Dixon, age 37, was arrested by Durham Police on Dec. 2 on four counts of sexual offense with a child under the age of 15 and one count of indecent liberties with a child.

According to the arrest documents, a 13-year-old is listed as the victim and the alleged incident occurred in October. That victim was also a student of Dixon’s.

Dixon had apparently served as a substitute teacher at the Community School of Digital and Visual Arts. The school is located in Durham and is a public charter school. An official with the school says Dixon has been terminated.

As of Dec. 12, Wake County has added 14 new counts to Dixon’s tally that include statutory sex offense with a child under the age of 15, indecent liberties, and Solicitation of a Child by Electronic Device for Unlawful Sex Act.

The new charges are related to incidents that allegedly took place in September and October in his Raleigh residence.

Dixon was initially issued a secured bond of $10 million. That bond was lowered to $1 million at a Dec. 5 court appearance after his mother, Sharon Dixon, pleaded with the judge that her son was a ” good role model for a lot of people.”

“He’s grown up in the church all his life and helped so many people. He’s a giver. He loves friends, family…and does everything he can,” Dixon’s mother told the judge.

Despite the bond reduction, Dixon remains in custody at the Durham County Detention Facility.

Dixon’s Facebook page identifies him as the pastor of the Kingdom City Life Empowerment church in Durham.

The Victory Christian International Fellowship of Churches released the following statement on Dixon’s arrest:

“On December 1, 2022, Victory Christian International Fellowship of Churches Inc., along with the Apostolic Council were made aware of allegations and pending legal actions that are in progress concerning Bishop David Ke’Andre Dixon. Due to this ongoing legal matter and in accordance with our constitution and bylaws he has been removed from all official capacities. We will continue to keep all parties involved in prayer. Currently, we have no further statements or comments.”

Update:

Dixon was indicted on Mar. 13 for having sex with a 13-year-old child.

The victim was his student.

He was also indicted on the first degree kidnapping and soliciting a child by computer charges filed against him.

No teaching license is on file with the state for Dixon.
