A former secretary for a high school in the Pitt County Public Schools system has been arrested in connection with charges related to interactions with a 15-year-old boy.
News outlet WITN reported that Erica Cooke, age 42, was arrested by Greenville police last Tuesday, June 1.
The Greenville Police Department confirmed that Cooke was charged with “indecent liberties with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after she reportedly inappropriately touched a 15-year-old boy and provided him with alcohol and marijuana.”
Cooke’s full name per charging documents is Erica Cooke Whalen. She was issued a bond of an unknown amount and was released from the Pitt County Detention Center.
WITN reports that a Pitt County Schools spokeswoman said Cooke was a secretary and was fired Monday and had worked at J.H. Rose High School since 2013.
