According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department, the investigation into Dellinger was begun by the China Grove Police in July and then turned over to them.

“The investigation revealed that Jason Dellinger was involved with inappropriate conversations and emails with some students,” said Rowan County Sheriff’s Department Captain John Sifford.

“After reviewing evidence with the Rowan County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined that the appropriate charge in this incident was Indecent liberties with a student by a school guardian,” said Captain Sifford.

A bond in the amount of $25,000 was issued to Dellinger, which he posted and was then released.

Before resigning on June 23, Dellinger taught at J.C. Carson High School in China Grove, North Carolina. District officials confirmed he was hired in August 2010 and had been at J.C. Carson for 7 years.

Local law enforcement asks that anyone with information about this case should call Detective Cody Trexler at (704) 216-8713.
