Dear Schools, Teachers, and Administrators: Your politics have no place in our kid’s classrooms.

Not only is it state policy to keep personal politics out of the classroom, it’s literally common sense. These are your students, not your acolytes.

Educators and those working in schools are welcome to their opinions. But please, your politics to yourselves.

You’re not being noble by virtue signaling in front of your students. Depending on the age and disposition of what your students may or may not believe, you’re creating a hostile environment for many of them.

The increasing politicization of lessons in our schools is creating an unnecessarily negative environment. Likewise with the rising infusion of skewed social justice issues into everything from literature to math has got to stop.

Unsure what I’m talking about?

As a parent of two kids in the North Carolina public schools system, I’ve had enough. Enough of the partisan antics and enough of overtly political “white supremacy pyramid” poster and forcing students to apologize for their “white privilege.”

Try on for size the two elementary school kids who were ridiculed by their peers – for saying the Pledge of Allegiance.  The school is called Orrs Elementary and touts itself as, “A National School of Character.”

Tuesday morning at Orrs Elementary School, 10-year-old Jason Newberry said he and one classmate put their hand over their heart while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. He said when they did, others in the class called them names.

“Me and him got called KKK, Nazi, and we just kept getting bullied the whole day,” said Newberry.

Newberry said it wasn’t until his second period teacher showed them a news clip of NFL players kneeling that he realized the present controversy surrounding the flag.

The teacher made a poll on paper and passed it out to all the students to see what they thought was right or wrong about taking a knee. The teacher even told students that she would never stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and that if she did stand she would not really mean it.

And here’s the kicker. The school won’t say if the teacher will be disciplined for letting this nonsense go on in their classroom.

The teacher in question later wrote a ‘note’ to parents saying, “I apologize for expressing my views to my students. I recognize that while this was not a one-sided lesson, the topic itself and the expression of my views were not appropriate, my intentions were well-meaning.”

Well-intentioned? Lady, your job is to educate kids, not to impart your political conscience onto them and certainly not to let other kids in the class berate other students who hold different views.

Your Politics Kept Out In Asheville, NC

For an example closer to home, one has only to look over to liberal Asheville County Schools. In the Asheville Middle School, someone thought it was a good idea to bring in Black Lives Matter activist Bree Newsome. You might recall that name from 2015 when Newsome scaled a flagpole in South Carolina in order to rip down a Confederate flag.

She and her spotter, James Tyson, were both arrested upon completion of the stunt. And yes, it was a stunt. You don’t show up on public property decked out in climbing gear with a spotter for a spontaneous act of civil disobedience.

This is the same woman who seemingly endorsed digging up the body of a Confederate General – OH SNAP! But let’s allow her to talk to young, impressionable children who have little to no political knowledge or experience. What could possibly go wrong?

Newsome was also arrested at an NC NAACP led Moral Monday event.  As an activist who is a professional agitator and who is affiliated with the radical and often violent Black Lives Matter group, this woman has no business talking to kids in any school anywhere.

Her activism doesn’t stop there. Newsome also claimed to be the Western Field Organizer for the far left youth-led organization, Ignite NC.

That organization might ring a bell. It’s one of many that is tied to the Southern Vision Alliance and the Durham Solidarity Center. Both of which trace back to Action for Community In Raleigh (ACRe), a non-profit with an expired charity license.

Southern Vision Alliance has multiple other offshoots, many of them dealing with young people and students with the aim of injecting politics into education.

According to the Citizen-Times in Asheville, the community is supporting Newsome and offering her ‘alternative venues’. GOOD. Go talk at a local venue but keep your politics out of our classrooms.
