He Who Controls The Data, Controls The People?

Stalin is quoted as once saying something along the lines of, “It doesn’t matter who votes. What matters is who counts the votes.” Well, if you can get your propaganda into the heads actual voters before they vote, same difference right?

Looks like a lot of folks might owe Jack Welch and apology.

Over at Instapundit, Professor Reynolds has posted an article from the NY Post titled, ‘Census ‘faked’ 2012 jobs report. The excerpt he posts is this, emphasis is mine:

In the home stretch of the 2012 presidential campaign, from August to September, the unemployment rate fell sharply — raising eyebrows from Wall Street to Washington.

The decline — from 8.1 percent in August to 7.8 percent in September — might not have been all it seemed. The numbers, according to a reliable source, were manipulated.

And the Census Bureau, which does the unemployment survey, knew it.

Just two years before the presidential election, the Census Bureau had caught an employee fabricating data that went into the unemployment report, which is one of the most closely watched measures of the economy.

And a knowledgeable source says the deception went beyond that one employee — that it escalated at the time President Obama was seeking reelection in 2012 and continues today.

“He’s not the only one,” said the source, who asked to remain anonymous for now but is willing to talk with the Labor Department and Congress if asked.

The Census employee caught faking the results is Julius Buckmon, according to confidential Census documents obtained by The Post. Buckmon told me in an interview this past weekend that he was told to make up information by higher-ups at Census.

If the GOP aren’t convening a hearing and lining up an independent counsel right now, they’re a lost cause.

While reading this bit, the same though of the IRS targeting came into my head. I also remembered an article I did on that very month’s jobs report – it was an election miracle. Folks on both sides of the aisle were a bit skeptical. Remember how the right leaning folks were being called “job birthers” for questioning it? Looks like they weren’t nuts after all. Instapundit also reminds us at the bottom of his post that this administration moved the Census bureau under its direct control in 2009.

Further down in the NY Post Article:

“Census never publicly disclosed the falsification. Nor did it inform Labor that its data was tainted.”

Also:

I hope the next stop will be Congress, since manipulation of data like this not only gives voters the wrong impression of the economy but also leads lawmakers, the Federal Reserve and companies to make uninformed decisions.

To cite just one instance, the Fed is targeting the curtailment of its so-called quantitative easing money-printing/bond-buying fiasco to the unemployment rate for which Census provided the false information.

So falsifying this would, in essence, have dire consequences for the country.

“The real issue is who directs the Census, the pros or the pols,” says Mr. Chapman. “You would think an administration that’s thumping its chest about respecting science would show a little respect for scientists in the statistical field.” He worries that a Census director reporting to a hyperpartisan such as White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel increases the chances of a presidential order that would override the consensus of statisticians.

The Obama administration is downplaying how closely the White House will oversee the Census Bureau. But Press Secretary Robert Gibbs insists there is “historical precedent” for the Census director to be “working closely with the White House.” – WSJ

Former BLS heads says it’s “impossible” to manipulate Labor Survey Data.

Zero Hedge does a flashback as well at the end of their current article on this revelation:

Rick Santelli of CNBC, noting that the rate has dropped below the magical number of 8 percent, said, “You can let America decide how they got there.” When one side is convinced that something smells rotten, you know it’s good news for the other guy.

As we noted his comment at the time…

“the current trend of these [jobs] numbers is so different from the current trend of any other numbers. If you were looking for conspiracies (and I’m not), you only need to change a certain number.”

So — we have yet another scandal. Add CensusGate to the pile?

Any one of these would have taken down a Republican President and administration, but thanks to the media, that will never happen.

Just to summarize:

IRS targeting + BLS manipulation + arguable fraud in key states = Reelection.

Now add what we know about the Obamacare lie. Remember though, it was Republicans who were terrorists for trying to block this thing and every single Democrat voted for it.
