Via Matthew Boyle at the Daily Caller:
A former North Carolina Democratic Party staffer was sexually harassed by a party official, made a financial settlement with the party and signed a non-disclosure agreement to keep the incident quiet.
“If this hits the media, the Democratic Party, our candidates, and our credibility are doomed in this election,” reads one email exchange between state Democratic leaders.
An email chain between those Democratic leaders, obtained by The Daily Caller, indicates the executive director of the North Carolina Democratic Party, Jay Parmley, and the alleged sexual harassment victim both signed non-disclosure agreements.
The email chain does not make clear who was guilty of the harassment, the status of that individual’s employment with the Democratic Party or the identity of the victim.
Further down in the article, there is an embedded copy of the emails mentioned in the article. The first email appears to be from the staffer who filed the complaint against Parmley. While the email address is partly blacked out, the letter indicates this staffer is possibly someone medium way up the food chain. The letter states, “I was elected by well over 400 people to represent them as Wake Country Democratic Party Vice Chair,” and if one assumes it is a woman who filed said complaint, that narrows the field of possibilities. There are only two women with Chair titles for Wake County listed on the Wake County Democratic Party site.

- 4-16-12 – From News and Observer:
Watt Jones, a member of the state party’s executive committee who raised concerns about the settlement agreement, said Parmley made the right decision for the party.
“Clearly I think there are others who should resign, too,” Jones said.
