The following blog contains a series of compiled video I shot at the MoveOn.org protest in Raleigh, NC on February 26th, 2011. News of this protest arrived on my wall on Facebook the night before. Alerts went out from a number of sources to counter-protest. One such alert was posted on the blog Randy’s Right. He kindly gave me an accounting of an altercation that occurred before I arrived and is the first gentleman I interviewed in the related video below. The actual video description gives a general idea of what went down.
Here is a snapshot of the event page on Facebook (click to enlarge):
The very first agenda item for this saving of America is “Make Wall Street and the super-rich pay their fair share”. It’s no small wonder that the Socialists of NC and ProgressiveNC were on the attendee list. That had to make them salivate as much as it made me gag.
When I arrived, the protest was already in full swing despite the start time being noon and I had gotten there at just quarter past. I wandered through the MoveOn.org side, noting the SEIU stickers at the SEANC table. Interesting how their website title is “SEANC, SEIU Local 2008”. I was under the impression that State employees in NC were not allowed to unionize.
The local media was there but when I searched for the story tonight, the only one I found was from NBC-17. I am sure WRAL will have a nice piece of left leaning fiction in the morning though. They only showed pictures of the MoveOn.org side of the street, of course. They called it a rally. It was a protest. Tomayyyto.. tomaaaato. The Examiner picked up the Tea Party side of the story, even if they used the smallest photo possible.
I have to say, I was impressed there were no Hitler signs on either side at this event. No cross hairs or truly hateful ones either. Nice Job, Raleigh. Let’s hope you can be the example of true new civility for the rest of the country.
Here is the link to my YouTube Channel. All of these videos can be found there as well as posted here. All the video was shot by me, sorry for any shakiness and I confess I am not well practiced in editing… my apologies for the ultra-fast clips and captions in spots — use that pause button! Next time around I am sure I will get the hang of this.
