CMS teacher arrest for sexual activity with a student

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Schools teacher was arrested on multiple counts of sexual activity with a student.

Victim /Case Details: 

School resources officer was told about inappropriate contact between a teacher and an 18-year-old male student.
The teacher was identified as Dennis and she was questioned on school property by Sexual Assault Unit detectives with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD). At the conclusion of the interview, Dennis was placed under arrest and charged with three counts of sexual activity with a student.

The case is still “active and ongoing” per CMPD. Anyone with information about the case should contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

None of the activities Dennis is charged with are believed to have occurred on school property.

I am not able to disclose any specific details, but know that I am working with district leadership and law enforcement to ensure a resolution.

Our students are the most important part of our school community, and any actions by staff that disrupts their learning or jeopardizes their well-being will not be tolerated. You will likely see reports on the news and hear rumors regarding this incident.

Out of respect for the student and staff member involved, please refrain from repeating these rumors. Thank you for your understanding, support, and cooperation.”
