Town Of Tarboro Audit Reveals Spending Issues

Report Summary:

Investigators determined that a former Town Manager made nearly $366,000 of purchases over a six-year period that exceeded the scope of his duties and obtained over $87,000 for life insurance premiums without Town Council approval. Investigators also discovered that a former accounting clerk obtained over $30,000 in unemployment benefits for which she may not have been eligible and a former Electric Department director inappropriately received nearly $28,000 in reimbursements for his ex-wife’s health insurance. In addition, the Town Council failed to adequately oversee town operations to ensure accountability. Continue reading →

Whether you choose the Jean Paul Sartre or Malcolm X version. What we saw happen in Mississippi was the establishment GOP making the conscious choice to make sure Cochran won by any means necessary.

Earlier this year in April, I wrote about Primary Shenanigans here in North Carolina. Folks who were Democrats were hopping party affiliation with the intent of swaying a Republican primary. In some cases, one of the candidates in said Republican primary was not really all that conservative; in fact the paint on their Republican voter registration was barely dry. You get the picture. Tampon Earring Aficionado comes to the Tarheel state. Wake Forest has hired Melissa Harris-Perry. The description by the Provost really laid it on thick:

Melissa Harris-Perry is one of the nation’s foremost intellectuals publicly exploring—and thoughtfully influencing—the intersections of politics, race, gender, religion and culture,” said Wake Forest Provost Rogan Kersh. “We are delighted that she has chosen to come home to Wake Forest and help ignite in our students the passion she has for contemporary political issues and social justice.”

“One of the nation’s Foremost Intellectuals”… yeah, right. What just happened is that MSNBC lost a race-baiting, pot stirring talking head with a penchant for Orwellian speak with regards other people’s children and Wake Forest gained an indoctrination Diva. Continue reading →
