Raleigh, NC – On Saturday, August 2, the North Carolina Republican Party State Executive Committee met in Greensboro to consider endorsements in this year’s statewide judicial elections. The N.C. Republican Party is pleased to officially announce the endorsements of the following candidates for their respective offices:
N.C. Court of Appeals – Paul Holcombe, Bill Southern, and Donna Stroud
N.C. Supreme Court Associate Justice – Bob Hunter, Eric Levinson, and Mike Robinson
N.C. Supreme Court Chief Justice – Mark Martin
Following the endorsements, N.C. Republican Party Chairman Claude E. Pope, Jr. issued the following statement:
“This year’s slate of judicial candidates represent the very best of conservatives in North Carolina. Their experience and prudence will serve our state well when facing large, complex issues that affect all of our lives and our economy. The North Carolina Republican Party will work tirelessly on the ground through our strong grassroots organization to help drive them to victory in November.
“These candidates are lead by Justice Mark Martin, who received the N.C. Republican Party’s endorsement for Chief Justice. Justice Martin has had an excellent career serving as Senior Associate Justice and has over 20 years of judicial experience, including serving on the Superior Court and the Court of Appeals prior to joining the Supreme Court. He will bring unquestionable expertise and judgement to the bench as Chief Justice and we are proud to join five former Chief Justices in endorsing Mark Martin.”
Don’t forget that there is ANOTHER Court of Appeals race which just opened up. The filing period for that one ends this Friday the 8th at noon. It will be a free-for-all. So far, 4 candidates have filed. There is NO primary, and the top vote-getter on Nov. 4th, no matter how many votes he or she gets, will win.
