Pearson Is Everywhere: Who Writes These Tests, Anyhow?

Pearson: Always Earning

Pearson: Always Earning

Welcome Back to another installment of Pearson Is Everywhere!

Last time, we talked about the The ‘Turn Around’ Schools Program. Today, we’re taking a look at job opportunities at Pearson. In particular, test writers.

You’d have to be living in one serious cave not to know that the Common Core PARCC tests produced by Pearson are under heavy fire.

Computer glitches, complaints about spying on students on social media and a good deal of issues with the actual test questions.

About those test questions…

Wait, what?

Washington Post explains:

If you are looking for a job in the area of test development, there’s some good news. Pearson, the world’s largest education company, is advertising for test item writers and you apparently don’t have to have a bachelor’s degree. It is just “preferred.”

Nice. Students in multiple states now have this PARCC test attached to getting their diplomas, meanwhile Joe Blow is writing the questions.

Dear Pearson, CCSSO, NGA, Achive and US DOE: Define ‘Career and College Ready’ now.
