ABC Attempts To Fabricate A Flip-Flop
Headline:
Mitt Romney ‘Not Getting Rid of All of Health Care Reform’
Opening paragraphs:
“Mitt Romney raised some eyebrows today when he said, “I’m not getting rid of all of healthcare reform.”
That sounded quite different from the mantra he has repeated for months, that he would “repeal Obamacare.”
Though the Romney campaign quickly said there has been no change in position, it’s clear that despite the rhetoric, the Republican nominee would keep some of the popular elements of President Obama’s healthcare reform act.
“Well, I’m not getting rid of all of healthcare reform,” Romney said in an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
“Of course there are a number of things that I like in healthcare reform that I’m going to put in place,” he said. “One is to make sure that those with pre-existing conditions can get coverage.””
Hey ABC, check with Andrea Mitchell on how to perpetrate a fraud next time.
Without batting an eye, ABC attempts to make this into a flip-flop, ignoring that Romney has stated the above since the very beginning of his campaign. Romney’s statements here in no way mean he is not going to stick to his promise to repeal Obamacare. That was hit one in the article, the next part was to highlight the vouchers proposed by Paul Ryan:
“Their voucher plan for Medicare would bankrupt Medicare,” Obama later told the 3,000 supporters who attended the rally.
Hey, ummm.. ABC? That’s Obama repeating the lie from his acceptance speech, “And I will — I will never turn Medicare into a voucher.” About two days after his speech, this happened:
Surprise! HHS pilot program to send 2 million poor seniors from Medicare into … “voucher” programs
Ouch. Yeah…Nice try, ABC. Next time, get tips on perpetrating a fraud from Andrea Mitchell. Oh and pro-tip: Don’t cite a full leftist group like Center for American Progress as the source for your horror show figure on costs. Definitely don’t leave off their full title either, which is Center for American Progress ACTION FUND. I laugh at their “About Us” page every time a media lapdog like ABC links to them. Whoever wrote it needs to look up the definitions of Non-Partisan, Independent and Progressive:
The Center for American Progress Action Fund is an independent nonpartisan education and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of Americans through ideas and action. We are creating a long-term, progressive vision for America—a vision that policymakers, thought-leaders, and activists can use to shape the national debate and pass laws that make a difference.
Our mission is to transform progressive ideas into policy through rapid response communications, legislative action, grassroots organizing and advocacy, and partnerships with other progressive leaders throughout the country and the world.
The president of The Center for American Progress Action Fund is Tom Perriello.
What We Believe
As progressives we believe that America should be a country of boundless opportunity—where all people can better themselves through education, hard work, and the freedom to pursue their dreams. We believe this will only be achieved with an open and effective government that champions the common good over narrow self-interest, harnesses the strength of our diversity, and secures the rights and safety of its people.
