NC #ASRC Handout has Author Missing
In going over the December meeting materials from the Common Core Academic Standards Review Commission (ASRC), there was one handout that was missing any notation of who the author was.
This handout had a header on it that said, “Legislatively Required Standards Review Process in Other States”. A closer inspection of the original document’s properties showed it was authored by Michael Gilligan.

Postmortem: First Common Core Commission Meeting
Yesterday was the first meeting of the Common Core Commission, officially known as the Academic Standards Review Commission (ASRC). It took place from 2 to 4 pm in a small conference room on the 4th floor of the Education building where the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) is housed. By law, the commission is not supposed to meet at DPI but they split hairs just enough by holding it in the Construction office’s conference room.

Corbett cited the loss of control and overreach by the federal government. Good for him. Common Core represents the loss of state sovereignty over education.
WHERE IS GOVERNOR MCCRORY?

Gov. Walker: ‘If Reelected, I’ll Replace Common Core’
This weekend, Scott Walker announced that if reelected he will replace Common Core. I’m sure the Common Core peddling Michael Brickman of the Fordham Institute is unhappy to hear that. Brickman was education adviser to Walker when Common Core was adopted. Brickman also did a song and dance at the NC legislature during the Common Core committee hearings. I also had a chat with him on Pete Kaliner’s show on WWNC.

#DM7 Article: The NC Common Core Rebrand Attempt
This is a reposting of my weekly DaTechGuy article: The NC Common Core Rebrand Attempt
By A.P. Dillon
The repeal of Common Core from the North Carolina state statutes and the formation of a standards replacement commission as set out by Senate Bill 812 brought hope to the citizens who had been fighting Common Core. That hope was not without skepticism of a possible rebrand attempt, which has turned out to be justified by the comments made recently by North Carolina’s State Superintendent and Governor.
