#DM7 Article: I’d Like You All To Shut Up.

My latest article at Da Tech Guy, “I’d Like You All To Shut Up.”, is now available in full below.
——————————

Today I’d like you all to shut up. Yes, I just said shut up. I’d like to open with a flashback from Andrew Klavan from four years ago:

Shut Up.
It’s the main tactic of the Left and has been for some time now. A tactic I and others have dubbed “Shutuppery”. Shutuppery, like most silencing tactics, has its roots in Political Correctness. For those of you not familiar with the story about how Shutuppery was employed on yours truly, let me summarize for you.

Prayers On A Bus

Prayers on a bus. No, it’s not the sequel to Snakes on a Plane. It’s literally something that happened on a school bus in Minnesota. A pastor named George Nathaniel was fired from the school district where he was a bus driver for prayers on his bus. Star Tribune:

A bus driver for the Burnsville school district was fired last week for leading kids in Christian prayers on his bus, even after he was warned to stop — a move he considers a violation of his freedom of speech.

George Nathaniel, 49, of Richfield, who is also a pastor for a pair of Minneapolis churches, was in his second year as a school bus driver for a company under contract to the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage district. Continue reading

News & Record’s Statist Response To Home Schooling Searches

I was under the weather and out of action yesterday but perhaps might have rallied to respond to this article at the News and Record had I seen it: Home school inspections would intrude on privacy?

A day ago, the Lt. Governor’s office sent out press releases alerting the public that NDPE (Division of Non-Public Education) might be thinking about bringing back random spot inspections and searches of home schools. NDPE and the Lt. Governor’s office then issued a joint statement saying such inspections would not happen.

The article, written by Doug Clark, seems to take aim at the Lt. Governor for advocating the privacy rights of home schoolers. The article reports the facts of the case in the first couple of paragraphs, then it turns a bit statist sounding. From the article with emphasis added: Continue reading

Anniversary of 19th Amendment

Despite Democrat Woodrow Wilson’s best efforts, today is the anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment that gave women the right to vote. You’d never know the battles these women fought given the state of “feminism” today.

Here are a few interesting facts about Republicans, Democrats and Women: Continue reading

Durbin To Bloggers: Sit Down, Shut Up. Take 2.

Glenn Reynolds takes Dick Durbin to task and I remind the Senator from Illinois, home of the President who touted the most transparent administration in history, yet again:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” Continue reading

I Am Your Worst Nightmare

Open Letter to America:

Call me a monster if you wish, I am quite large after all. Funny how when no one is paying attention to how appearances can change. Anyhow, thought I would drop you a note with just a taste of what I have done, what I can do, and what I may do. Keep it on the down low, but I gotta tell ya….I am your worst nightmare.

Here is my resume..

I can go after your beliefs, and your traditions. Nothing will be sacred to me. I will make you to “see it my way” because “it’s for you own good” oh, and if you don’t, I will attack you, belittle you, shame you. You are in the way.

You can speak out about me if you want, however, be careful, because I can hear everything you say. I am everywhere. Don’t think for a moment that my true believers wont root you out. Don’t speak against me.

If you dissent, or oppose me, (do you really want to go there?) I can send out my minions to degrade you, smear you, and discredit you . You will be considered the lowest of human beings. It is in my best interest that I do this. Then, if you continue to defy me, I may keep you from having any platform for you to speak on. You will have no way of getting out any of your views. I will make sure of that. I will take away your ability to learn anything of value. I can make your life a living hell. I will silence you.
