This morning, we woke up to the news from CBS that the Obama administration knew within 2 hours of the attack on our consulate in Benghazi that it was not sparked by a video, but was a confirmed terror attack.
Flashback to Monday’s debate: Bob Schieffer of CBS news asks the first question of the final Presidential debate on Benghazi.
The first segment is the challenge of a changing Middle East and the new face of terrorism. I’m going to put this into two segments, so you’ll have two topic questions within this one segment on that subject. The first question, and it concerns Libya, the controversy over what happened there continues. Four Americans are dead, including an American ambassador. Questions remain. What happened? What caused it? Was it spontaneous?
Was it an intelligence failure? Was it a policy failure? Was there an attempt to mislead people about what really happened?
The President’s response, emphasis added:
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, my first job as commander in chief, Bob, is to keep the American people safe, and that’s what we’ve done over the last four years. We ended the war in Iraq, refocused our attention on those who actually killed us on 9/11. And as a consequence, al-Qaida’s core leadership has been decimated.
In addition, we’re now able to transition out of Afghanistan in a responsible way, making sure that Afghans take responsibility for their own security, and that allows us also to rebuild alliances and make friends around the world to combat future threats. Now, with respect to Libya, as I indicated in the last debate, when we received that phone call, I immediately made sure that, number one, we did everything we could to secure those Americans who were still in harm’s way; number two, that we would investigate exactly what happened; and number three, most importantly, that we would go after those who killed Americans, and we would bring them to justice, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.
But I think it’s important to step back and think about what happened in Libya. Now, keep in mind that I and Americans took leadership in organizing an international coalition that made sure that we were able to — without putting troops on the ground, at the cost of less than what we spent in two weeks in Iraq — liberate a country that had been under the yoke of dictatorship for 40 years, got rid of a despot who had killed Americans.
And as a consequence, despite this tragedy, you had tens of thousands of Libyans after the events in Benghazi marching and saying, America’s our friend. We stand with them. Now that represents the opportunity we have to take advantage of. And you know, Governor Romney, I’m glad that you agree that we have been successful in going after al-Qaida, but I have to tell you that, you know, your strategy previously has been one that has been all over the map and is not designed to keep Americans safe or to build on the opportunities that exist in the Middle East.
He doesn’t answer the question. Re-read the whole exchange.
Flashback to debate #2, where an audience member asks a similar question. Candy Crowley ends up defending Obama as he tried to lie AGAIN.
Q: This question actually comes from a brain trust of my friends at Global Telecom Supply in Mineola yesterday. We were sitting around talking about Libya, and we were reading and became aware of reports that the State Department refused extra security for our embassy in Benghazi, Libya, prior to the attacks that killed four Americans. Who was it that denied enhanced security and why?
The President’s answer, emphasis added:
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, let me, first of all, talk about our diplomats, because they serve all around the world and do an incredible job in a very dangerous situation. And these aren’t just representatives of the United States; they’re my representatives. I send them there, oftentimes into harm’s way. I know these folks, and I know their families. So nobody’s more concerned about their safety and security than I am.
So as soon as we found out that the Benghazi consulate was being overrun, I was on the phone with my national security team, and I gave them three instructions. Number one, beef up our security and — and — and procedures not just in Libya but every embassy and consulate in the region. Number two, investigate exactly what happened, regardless of where the facts lead us, to make sure that folks are held accountable and it doesn’t happen again. And number three, we are going to find out who did this, and we are going to hunt them down, because one of the things that I’ve said throughout my presidency is when folks mess with Americans, we go after them.
Now, Governor Romney had a very different response. While we were still dealing with our diplomats being threatened, Governor Romney put out a press release trying to make political points. And that’s not how a commander in chief operates. You don’t turn national security into a political issue, certainly not right when it’s happening.
And people — not everybody agrees with some of the decisions I’ve made. But when it comes to our national security, I mean what I say. I said I’d end the war in Libya — in Iraq, and I did. I said that we’d go after al-Qaida and bin Laden. We have. I said we’d transition out of Afghanistan and start making sure that Afghans are responsible for their own security. That’s what I’m doing.
And when it comes to this issue, when I say that we are going to find out exactly what happened, everybody will be held accountable, and I am ultimately responsible for what’s taking place there, because these are my folks, and I’m the one who has to greet those coffins when they come home, you know that I mean what I say. The NY Times attempts to revive a narrative that just isn’t there and even if it was, it does not absolve anyone of their responsibility in the murders of 4 Americans. This scandal has had enough scapegoating and shirking of duty to last 10 Presidencies. The buck stops here, right Mr. President? You’ve made that promise a few times.
Obama in 2008 on National Security: The Buck Will Stop With Me
Obama in 2010 on National Security: The buck stops with me
Via FOX, emphasis added:
The State Department has not ruled out the possibility that the deadly terrorist attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, were motivated by an anti-Islamic video, despite a growing chorus of criticism over the Obama administration’s initial claims that the violence was a “spontaneous” outgrowth of a protest over the video.
The news report, by a New York Times reporter based in Cairo, cites interviews with people in Libya who said the attackers suggested shortly after the attack that they “did it in retaliation for the video.”
The Times also noted a news conference held the day after the attack by a spokesman for Ansar al-Shariah, the militant group suspected of being responsible for the killings. “We are saluting our people for this zeal in protecting their religion, to grant victory to the Prophet,” the spokesman said. The Prophet Muhammad was the focus of the offensive video.
And the story suggests that the group, though perhaps in contact with elements of Al Qaeda, had a predominantly local focus.
Such details seem to lends credence to at least part of the explanation given by Rice, who has said she was basing her assessment on the intelligence at hand. Even so, the Times article underscores other evidence that the attack was planned in advance and that there was no protest outside the consulate before the strike, contrary to the picture Rice and other administration officials were painting early on.
The NY Times desperately wants to have their cake and eat it too. The claim by NY Times that the locals say it had something to do with the video is in direct contradiction with that of the position of Libyan officials.
A senior Libyan official says the attack was organized and planned by foreigners – some with links to al Qaida – involved a local Islamic militia, and was timed for the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States. Moreover, the Libyan official appeared to question whether there was a protest beforehand.
“The way these perpetrators acted and moved, and their choosing a specific date for this so-called demonstration, I think that this leaves us with no doubt that this was pre-planned, pre-determined,” Mohammad Magarief, the head of the Libyan National Congress, the recently elected interim government, said Sunday. – Source: The State
The NY Times is barking up the wrong tree. Meanwhile, Nakoula is still locked up in isolation for ‘probation violations’ and is therefore effectively silenced. Convenient.
The fact remains that the attack on the consulate in Benghazi had nothing to do with a YouTube video, yet this administration has lied about the incident repeatedly and continues to do so.
Libya was already unstable. There had been multiple attacks in the 6 months leading up to 9/11. The timeline is damning.
There was no protest at the consulate beforehand. The State Department insisted, on the night before the Benghazi Oversight hearings, they never concluded the attack was related to the video. The statements from the State Department days after the attack suggest otherwise. One such attack was a near miss for the British Ambassador.
This administration was warned in advance.
Security that was there was woefully unprepared and untrained.
Lack of security was not due to lack of funding, but willful ignorance of the requests for more and better defenses. On top of that, this administration withdrew what trained forced there were there and told the consulate to stop asking for anything more.
This President decided to go to bed instead of finding out the fate of an embassy he knew was under attack. It then took 17 days for the President to acknowledge Benghazi had been a planned terrorist attack. A lie he just repeated last night in a national debate and also spun by his Vice President in the VP debate. Coincidentally, or not, it took DNI 17 days to acknowledge it was an organized terrorist attack as well. Continue reading
So, instead of getting under the Obama Bus, last night Hillary Clinton chose to fall on her sword. Clinton made this move the night before the second presidential debate where foreign policy will be part of the debate, no less. Not a coincidence.
Read: Clinton: I’m responsible for diplomats’ security – CNN.com
“I take responsibility,” Clinton said during a visit to Peru. “I’m in charge of the State Department’s 60,000-plus people all over the world, 275 posts. The president and the vice president wouldn’t be knowledgeable about specific decisions that are made by security professionals. They’re the ones who weigh all of the threats and the risks and the needs and make a considered decision.”
But she said an investigation now under way will ultimately determine what happened at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, where Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed on September 11.
“I take this very personally,” Clinton said. “So we’re going to get to the bottom of it, and then we’re going to do everything we can to work to prevent it from happening again, and then we’re going to work to bring whoever did this to us to justice.”
That’s great, Hillary. You ‘investigate’. Too late though – Benghazi is not going away. The White House has already tried blaming a YouTube video, am obscure filmmaker, the CIA and lack of funding before finally turning their sites on you as the next excuse in its series of scapegoats. Oddly enough, the media has been doing its job a bit on this one and it seems like the public knows more than you do at this point. Besides, your heart isn’t really in it, we know what side your on. Now we know why the Obama administration blew off sending a spokesperson to talk about Benghazi on Face the Nation. They didn’t need to because Hillary was going to fall on her sword for them.[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bw2itbJuFMs&feature=share]
This is just another distraction; another form of stonewalling. It still doesn’t change the fact that Obama lied. Biden lied. Rice lied. Cutter lied. Clinton lied.
This administration LIED, repeatedly.
Four Americans are still dead. Whether or not Clinton stands up and says she accepts responsibility is moot. If she truly is accepting the blame, she can resign. We won’t see that happen right now though, but perhaps it will in time for the last presidential debate.

Holy. Finger. Pointing. Batman.
This administration is really making a dogs dinner out of Benghazi. I’d like to offer a pro-tip to them: don’t try and throw Hillary under the bus. I’m just sayin’… and Zilla agrees, Obama Doesn’t Have A Big Enough Bus. Hillary and Bill won’t take this lying down. Mrs. Clinton is already out on defense, who she is really defending will remain to be seen: Hillary Clinton Breaks Silent Streak on Benghazi Attack
Clinton agreed at an earlier appearance Friday, speaking to reporters alongside Italy’s foreign minister.
“We do not have all the answers. No one in this administration has ever claimed otherwise.”
“We are providing the best information we have at that time and that information continues to be updated, it also continues to be put into context and more deeply understood through the process we are engaged in,” she said.
There are three separate investigations into the attack going on now: an FBI probe into the deaths of the four Americans, an independent inquiry by a panel appointed by Clinton and the congressional hearings.
Indeed. Perhaps if Obama had attended his intel briefings and had not gone to bed before knowing Ambassador Stevens’ fate maybe he could have claimed otherwise. Doesn’t the buck stop here?[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7C7fq9b7sM&feature=em-uploademail-new]
Oh and Joe, tossing that dog mess in a flaming brown paper bag at the CIA during the VP debate? Yeah, not so smart. They’re pushing back too. I would give the advice to the FBI that they are probably next and to cut their stonewalling and excuse making:[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdxDfs2MsiU&feature=em-uploademail-new]
The citizens of this country see the lies piling up. We watch Obama, Biden and Cutter up there yapping about a video meanwhile the people know the truth and we are horrified:

Open Letter to America:
Call me a monster if you wish, I am quite large after all. Funny how when no one is paying attention to how appearances can change. Anyhow, thought I would drop you a note with just a taste of what I have done, what I can do, and what I may do. Keep it on the down low, but I gotta tell ya….I am your worst nightmare.
Here is my resume..
I can go after your beliefs, and your traditions. Nothing will be sacred to me. I will make you to “see it my way” because “it’s for you own good” oh, and if you don’t, I will attack you, belittle you, shame you. You are in the way.
You can speak out about me if you want, however, be careful, because I can hear everything you say. I am everywhere. Don’t think for a moment that my true believers wont root you out. Don’t speak against me.
If you dissent, or oppose me, (do you really want to go there?) I can send out my minions to degrade you, smear you, and discredit you . You will be considered the lowest of human beings. It is in my best interest that I do this. Then, if you continue to defy me, I may keep you from having any platform for you to speak on. You will have no way of getting out any of your views. I will make sure of that. I will take away your ability to learn anything of value. I can make your life a living hell. I will silence you.

Move over Honey Boo Boo and Real Housewives there is a new show brewing in DC that may give you all a run for your money. It seems that the White house press corp is quite upset with President Obama these days….and are crying foul. A line comes to mind….”There’s no crying in baseball” Well, there should be no wining in the media.
Over the weekend, President Obama in a not so smooth move brushed off the press corp to play a round of golf with Tiger Woods down in Florida. I question the choice of partners due to the fact Woods has been a controversial figure of an adulterous nature and is also part of that pesky 1% crowd Obama seems to have disdain for, yet I digress. It was a media black out for the 18 holes that would have produced photo-ops galore for the fawning reporters. Well, guys and gals, you really should have expected this. For the past 4 1/2 years the majority of you all have either thrown softballs, Nerf balls, or have had no balls in the questioning of this POTUS, or the digging for the truth on some of our countries most controversial scandals such as Benghazi , (H/T to Lady Liberty on Benghazi Gate) and Fast and Furious, (even the Daily Kos questioned media neglect on this one). You have remained silent on the many contradictions regarding Obama’s current economic policies and the debt vs. Candidate Obama’s statements on raising the debt…“That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic,” said candidate Obama. Yet, some of you are now realizing you are being and have been played by this administration from the get go. In a somewhat scathing article by Politico, the strings on the press corp are finally being visualized by the left stream media and Obama’s ability to manipulate you all. From that article, and I will list as my favorite parts:
*President Barack Obama is a master at limiting, shaping and manipulating media coverage of himself and his White House….
*frustrated Obama press corps neared rebellion this past holiday weekend when reporters and photographers were not even allowed onto the Floridian National Golf Club, where Obama was golfing.
I had to chuckle at the almost cathartic nature of the article in the way the Left stream media, like an Alcoholic, is coming out and realizing it may have a problem as the first step to recognizing its addiction. Well, open up the flood gates of “we told ya so’s” because this is something we fellow thinkers have seen since his nomination back in ’08. From Bruce Johnson op-ed, with the American Thinker, “These are the same journalists who sat on their hands during Fast and Furious. They failed to notice any lack of transparency during the Holder hearings when copious amounts of inter-agency communiques were redacted and withheld. Do these journalists realize that the people still do not know the highest ranking Department of Justice official to have knowledge of Fast and Furious? Did “transparency” reveal who implemented or approved the program?” to Silvio Canto, Jr. also with American Thinker his article titled “This is what happens when you are in the tank for the President” and New York magazine which had comments from Ed Henry, WHCA president and Fox News correspondent….(by the way, Mr. Henry has always in my mind shown integrity and true journalistic qualities that should be held as a standard)
“Speaking on behalf of the White House Correspondents Association, I can say a broad cross section of our members from print, radio, online and TV have today expressed extreme frustration to me about having absolutely no access to the President of the United States this entire weekend, “.. “There is a very simple but important principle we will continue to fight for today and in the days ahead: transparency.”
I say to those in the Press corp whom have allowed for this to happen…. Your have only your selves to blame for giving this guy a pass in the first place. Cut the strings, and stop acting like the characters in a ridiculous reality show. The American public requires you to do your job. Stop waiting for the President to be forthcoming and go after the accountability!!!! -Liberty Speaks Continue reading
I recently reported Panetta’s incredible statement that the President was not around during the night of the Benghazi attack. Now, it’s confirmed. The night four Americans were murdered at the hands of terrorists in Benghazi, President Obama was not involved. No calls were made by him nor did any instructions come from him as an over 8 hour engagement raged at our consulate. Was he just too busy getting some shut-eye so he could jet off to Vegas the next day?
Utter dereliction of duty:
President Obama didn’t make any phone calls the night of the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, the White House said in a letter to Congress released Thursday.
“During the entire attack, the president of the United States never picked up the phone to put the weight of his office in the mix,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican, who had held up Mr. Obama’s defense secretary nominee to force the information to be released.
“We still don’t know what the president of the United States was doing the night of the attack and who he was talking to. We know who he wasn’t talking to,” Mr. McCain said.
(Source: Washington Times)
More deck chair shuffling.
So now we are to believe that the Commander-in-Chief was briefed and then just went missing while Americans fought for their lives abroad? Remember, this past Fall this administration made the claim that the President not participating in the ongoing Benghazi investigation. This disinterest and lack of participation easily can be viewed as the first step in protecting the President from future fallout. That begs the question: Is this recent declaration a move to further insulate the President from coming revelations by removing him from the equation completely? It would certainly seem so. If this was a Republican President who just admitted this, we’d already be gearing up for impeachment.
Gross negligence or willfully dismissing the events – to borrow from Mrs. Clinton, “What difference does it make?” No matter how you try to put this one in context, the President was AWOL from his primary job: defending Americans and their interests.
We are pretty sure at this point that Ambassador Stevens was involved in the running of guns and weapons to Syria; some with the assistance of the Turkey. This scenario is a likely tie in with the White House now standing firm that the President had nothing to do with what happened on 9/11 in Benghazi.
More from NiceDeb: Senator Graham: “Benghazi Was About Breakdown of Security, Failure of Leadership, and a Prez Who Was Virtually Disengaged” (Video)
U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) held a press conference, today, to make a statement in response to Obama’s letter acknowledging he did not call anyone in Libya on September 11, 2012 during the 8 hours the U.S. mission was under attack. He didn’t pick up the phone to call any government officials in Libya until Sept. 12, after everyone was dead.
If it were not for the three of us and other colleagues, you would still believe – the American people would still believe that this was a spontaneous event caused by a hateful video, Graham told reporters. “That’s what was being told by Susan Rice five days after the attack, that’s what was being said by the POTUS for weeks. The reason we know that’s not true, is because we dug, and we pushed, and we prodded. And now we know, that during the entire attack, POTUS never picked up the phone to put the weight of his office into the mix, and there’s no stronger voice in the world than the President of the United States.”
Video via NiceDeb:[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=hYA9MJ2MpUc]
“The record needs to be clear”, Graham continued, “this was not about a hateful video, it was about a breakdown of national security, it was about an ambassador who was begging the State Dept. to send reinforcements for months, this was about a deteriorating security situation, this is about a attack you could see coming, this is about a complete failure of leadership Sec of Defense never talked to the Sec of State, and a President who as far as we know was virtually disengaged.”
He concluded, “America needs to learn what happened, and we need to learn from our mistakes.”
Yes, we do need to know what happened — with the White House confirming this President,in essence, blew off his job, the time to request an independent counsel has come.
Still more from Politico:
President Barack Obama did not speak with Libyan leaders as the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi was under way last September, the White House acknowleged Thursday in a letter to lawmakers.
White House Counsel Kathy Ruemmler said then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton did reach out to Libyan President Mohamed Magariaf at Obama’s request on the same day the attack began, but Obama didn’t personally call the Libyan leader until the following night.
“Secretary Clinton called Libyan President Magariaf on behalf of the president on the evening of September 11, 2012 to coordinate additional support to protect Americans in Libya and access to Libyan territory. At that time, President Magariaf expressed his condemnation and condolences and pledged his government’s full cooperation,” Ruemmler wrote. “The President spoke to President Magariaf on the evening of September 12.”
The big story here is that our President was absent as an act of war was committed but the other big story here is that, according to this letter, Hillary Clinton was the only one on record having communicated with Libyan officials. Now that she’s gone, the narrative is being steered her way. Convenient.
Flashback to Obama on Responsibility:
Obama did not provide a direct answer, but said: “When I say that we are going to find out exactly what happened, everybody will be held accountable, and I am ultimately responsible for what’s taking place there, because these are my folks, and I’m the one who has to greet those coffins when they come home, you know that I mean what I say.” (Source: FOX)
The buck stops here…or in my bed or Vegas. Whatever.
In an interview that aired today, President Obama said that “if we find out that there was a big breakdown and somebody didn’t do their job” regarding the attack on the U.S. outposts in Benghazi, Libya, “then they’ll be held responsible.” (Source: ABC)
Well, funny he should say that since HE was the one not doing his job.
Small wonder we have no photos from the situation room that night. According to the White House, he wasn’t even there. This confirmation of his absence makes his junkyard dog act at the press conference where he defended Susan Rice all the more insulting. The President stood in the room and defended a woman he sent out to lie to the American people, but the lie about the YouTube video wasn’t the only lie. She was out there distracting from the fact he was nowhere to be found during the attack.
Flashback: Obama the next day… (Transcript here.)[youtube=http://youtu.be/rKC_dzl3ksA]
…and then he jetted off to Vegas.
