Durham teacher charged with attempting to kill husband with a knife

A Durham Public School System teacher has been arrested after allegedly attempting to kill her husband with a knife.

Trenise Yaisa Wright, age 41, was arrested on Nov. 21 and was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury after she attacked her husband with a kitchen knife.

Wright was arrested at her home in Raleigh of 2620 Shepherd Valley Way. Records indicate she is currently being held at the Wake County jail without bond. Wright was also ordered not to contact her husband.

Wright was still listed as an Instructional Assistant – EC MU (Enhanced Staff) at Lowe’s Grove Magnet Middle in Durham as of the publishing of this article.

Durham Public schools has suspended Wright with pay pending the outcome of the investigation but have offered no official statement.

There is no active teaching license for Wright on file with the state.

Wright is the 57th school employee arrest tracked by this website since the start of 2019.
