Alamance middle school teacher suspended after out of state sex charges filed (Update: Held WI teaching license)

An Alamance middle school teacher was suspended by the district in late July after he was arrested on child sex crime charges in Wisconsin.

Stuart Herman Jones has been charged with “using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime,” according to Alamance-Burlington Public Schools.

Alamance-Burlington Schools Public Information Officer Jenny Faulkner said the district did not know what police department charged Jones but indicated he was arrested in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin law enforcement officials have not responded to requests for information and it is unclear if Jones is currently in North Carolina or in Wisconsin.

The district has suspended Jones with pay effective July 23. Jones has been employed with the district for nearly 10 years and is a math teacher at Western Alamance Middle School.

According to a Facebook page for Jones, he lists his hometown as Neenah, Wisconsin. Voter registration records show Jones registered to vote in North Carolina in March of 2012.

Stuart Jones also holds an active North Carolina teaching license with an expiration date in June 2021 which includes license areas in Mathematics 6-9, Elementary Education (K-6), Social Studies 6-9, Language Arts 6-9, and Science 6-9.

Update 8/13/19: According to records in the state of Wisconsin, Stuart Herman Jones held a teaching license in the state beginning in 1987. That license was renewed three times and last expired on June 30, 2008.
