The goal is to align everything so that students and the money have nowhere to go but Common Core.
Last time we looked at The Achievement Network (Anet). Today we’re looking into a group called Third Sector New England, Inc.
Like Anet, Third Sector is data dependent and are ‘committed to social change’:
Founded in 1959 as the Massachusetts Health Research Institute, Third Sector New England has expanded our programs over the past half century to serve nonprofits throughout New England and across the country. Today, we are using new tools and strategies in our work to support our clients and partners, foundations, colleagues working in nonprofit capacity building, and the many others committed to social change.
Maybe it’s just me, but their “about” section of their website, especially the mission statement area, has a creepy Stepford Wives meets social justice community organizer feel to it. Read about their latest initiative and how there can be no justice without equity.
Follow The Money
Of course, there are Gates Foundation grants. Over $14.6 million worth.
Of those grants, four are marked ‘College Ready’. Those four grants are all for pushing Diploma Plus schools which foster ‘blended learning’ and ’21st century world skills’. Diploma Plus is yet another 501(c)3.
Don’t skip reading their History page, as they chronicle how they were basically built by the Gates Foundation’s money. What’s funny is that they have no grants listed under them in the Gates grant database. If you put Diploma Plus into the search, all that pops up is Third Sector. More non-profit money swapping going on.
Also download this file on how Diploma Plus and Common Core are the perfect fit.
