This is a reposting of my weekly article at Da Tech Guy blog: Hagan Attempting To Manufacture Outrage In #NCSEN
By A.P. Dillon
Given the busy week Kay Hagan (D-NC) is having, a dispatch from the NC Senate race is due here. Hagan’s campaign has been ugly, divisive and pretty much deceptive across the board. Polls are close. Election day is looming. Hagan needs to manufacture some outrage and dangle a few shiny objects to survive the next few weeks.
Kay Has A Stimulus Problem
In a nutshell, Hagan helped her husband’s company get stimulus funds which turned around and went into their own millionaire pockets. Local media have been shamefully remiss in reporting on this.
Hagan’s steps to governing: 1. Vote for Stimulus $ 2. $ from Stimulus to Husband’s LLC 3. Get 67,000% LLC PAYRAISE 4. Deny profiting #ncsen

Politico reported that Hagan’s husband, Chip Hagan, benefited from the stimulus to the tune of $390k.
“JDC Manufacturing, a company co-owned by the Democratic senator’s husband, Chip, received nearly $390,000 in federal grants for energy projects and tax credits created by the 2009 stimulus law, according to public records and information provided by the company.”
Hagan claimed she didn’t profit from the money that went to JDC, but that appears not to be the end of the story. Chip Hagan spread the wealth around the family a bit.
Enter Hagan’s son, Tilden.
After Hagan’s husband’s company (JDC) received their stimulus cash, their son’s company, Green State Power, received solar panels from them.
There’s more. Chip Hagan is on the board of his son’s company:

The net result, so far, is that three Hagan family related companies shuffled stimulus money around between themselves. All thanks to Kay Hagan, who voted for the stimulus in the first place. Cozy.
Running Against Herself While Yelling’ SQUIRREL!’
Hagan desperately needs to distract from her non-record and needs to whip up her base in the face of her stimulus scandal.
To accomplish the required distraction, Hagan has turned to campaigning against the NC General Assembly, much like Candidate Obama used President Bush while campaigning against McCain.
Hagan has chosen to beat on education spending and teacher pay because her war on women attacks went nowhere. Nothing highlighted her war on women failure more than locking arms with the nation’s most famous serial adulterer.
This ‘war on education’ campaign is the same strategy used by Blueprint NC, and its partners like Moral Monday we’ve seen over the course of the last year here in North Carolina. Hagan appears to be getting help from far Left Progress NC, who has tried to hide their involvement in a non-profit that has been used to stage protests attacking the legislature on education.
Alongside Progress NC is North Carolina’s Superintendent of Education, June Atkinson. She’s quoted in the HuffPo article below as saying, “North Carolina has not invested in its teaching force as it should,” Atkinson told WTVD.
Clearly, NC State Superintendent Is Campaigning for Kay Hagan & Progress Action helping. http://t.co/EmggHbpljw #ncpol #nced — LL1885 – A.P. Dillon (@LadyLiberty1885) October 1, 2014
Shameless.
Hagan’s deceptive ads are choosing to ignore that teachers received raises this year, starting salaries were increased and that NC’s education spending takes up half of the state’s budget. North Carolina ranks in the top ten for state dollars spent on education.
All of these facts Superintendent Atkinson knows full well. The spin she and the NC Department of Public Instruction are using in order to drive false narratives is rather disgusting.
Survey Says… Union Backed, Missing Data
Hagan has been tweeting out an article linking to a survey by Wallethub which indicates NC is one of the worst places for teachers.
Ignore for a moment that Wallethub has never done this kind of education survey before. Also ignore that their site looks like a newbie PowerPoint user copied LinkedIn and put it up and the point of contact on the site, Scott Feder, is no longer with the company.
The survey has two fundamental flaws. One is that one the participants is the biggest teacher’s union out there, the National Educators Association. The other issue is that the survey doesn’t take into account the recently passed 2014-2015 budget.
Sister Toldjah explains how #NCSen’s Hagan unknowingly blames Dems – & herself – for “worst state for teachers” report. The punchline here is that the survey covers 7 years of Democrat control and only 3 for Republicans. Bonus – During some of those 7 years Hagan was at the NC General Assembly and therefore attacking herself.
