Quick reminder for those that seem to think this guy is worth anyone’s time to stand up for:

I’m rather annoyed by some of the responses from “big” blogs on this who seem to be thinking this guy deserves to keep his job, claiming it is hypocritical he was fired or we shouldn’t be celebrating this. Losing a job is not a celebrating moment, however shedding this guy might be beneficial to the company.

Multiple people have come out boo-hooing for this jerk.

Well, don’t. The guy decided to take his hate out on an unsuspecting teenage clerk and was so pleased with that idea he filmed it. Maturity and logic escapes this man. There’s no need to play the holier than thou/moral high ground card here – the guy is a classic liberal who learned his actions have consequences.

Think about it:

1. His speech isn’t being suppressed by being fired. He has a viral video out there he posted himself and then removed when he realized what a jerk he was being. At least I hope that was the reason, but more likely he realized he was going to be in trouble for it big time. That’s probably why he scrubbed his LinkedIn, his Resume posting and every other online place he had information up. ‘Weinergate’ was apparently not totally lost on Smith.

2. The man was allegedly a CFO. Holy giant lack of judgment!?  I’d can him not for the rudeness of the video, but for being a monumental idiot in taping it in the first place. The guy just pulled the drive thru equivalent of an Alec Baldwin-flight attendant move, people. Actually it’s worse – he planned it and then was so rather pleased with himself for berating a teenage clerk on camera he posted it for the world to see.

3. Also on the CFO front, I’m pretty sure there is a code of conduct or other contractual document there which says he can be axed for conduct/activities.

The guy deserved to be fired. Period. Free speech has nothing to do with it. Being a jackwagon and posting it for the world to see had everything to do with it.
