Gas, Pond Scum and Unicorn Farts

Blame Bush. Blame Wall Street.

Blah…Blah…Blah…

Barack Obama’s big answer for rising gas prices, of which he wanted in the first place, is to farm pond scum. Ignore the fact that avenue has been pursued since around the time of Carter and nothing viable or cost-effective has ever come from it. Obama is going to throw more of our money down his Green energy toilet after it anyway. I can only imagine the next step is to start harvesting unicorn farts.

Does this guy think we’re stupid?

Now the media has covered for Obama for years now and the politicians are playing hot potato with the blame for these high prices. They like to blame big oil greed and windfall profits, when in reality the state and federal government get a much bigger bite out of profits by way of taxes than the oil industry gets. At any rate, fingers are flying in all directions once again. A little history of Obama’s  and his media pets blame laying for gas prices:

2008: Bush and Wall Street

2009:  Bush, Inflation and Speculators

2010: Bush (Guest Appearance by Oil Speculators)

2011: Bush (Guest Appearances: YOU, China, Tsunami, European Economy and Arab Spring)

2012: Bush (Guest Appearances: GOP, Oil Companies and the Koch Brothers)

This is all rather interesting since back in 2006, long before running for President, he laid out his plan (minus the infrastructure to support it), under which it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that gas prices would definitely raise substantially. His love of green cars to nowhere also came out in 2006. Don’t forget also that in 2011, he told us to “get used to high gas prices.

Prices under Bush show some rapid jumps and declines in pricing — evidence of price corrections due to a variety of factors in supply, demand, transportation costs and crude prices overall.  In the chart below, we see that in August of 2008, we hit a high of $4.01 a gallon which then rapidly plummeted to near $1.61. The cost of crude per barrel hits $130 in May and $147 in July and is matched by the subsequent gas prices. Bush made a course correction as well, lifting a drilling ban on July 14, 2008. Obama has just added ban after ban. More detailed price numbers going back to 1994 can be found here and a timeline here.

Under Obama, we see a pretty steady increase; gradually over time. Crude prices have increased but not nearly to the levels under Bush. So why are prices up 84% under Obama – at close to 2008 spike levels with no end in sight?

Despite this administrations best efforts, the oil industry has been producing as much as it can under the regulations and moratoriums inflicted on them over the last three years.  I also suspect no one in the Obama administration is paying much attention to the supply and demand curve. When demand drops and supply remains constant – as do transportation costs for crude & refined products, prices go up. Add that to his bailout of GM (of which the taxpayer will never see their money back) and their push of a green vehicle system for which we have no infrastructure for, Green Crony Capitalism boondoggles like Solyndra, piling on of regulations and it is little wonder we have the chaos of today…but I digress on the “hodgepodge” that is the Obama energy policy.

Obama has been touting, “under my administration, America is producing more oil today than at any time in the last eight years.” He has yet to acknowledge that nearly all of the drilling was approved under Bush. He won’t blame Bush for that, apparently. Let’s see what we can find Obama responsible for then. From Speaker.gov where a full interactive timeline can be found:

My father in law is a high voltage elctrical engineer that has run massive projects from Saudi Arabia to restoring New York City electricity after their terrifying black out. He knows from people in the industry, that there are no standards for power grids to handle solar panel electric farms, and no standards for power grids from wind turbine electric farms. They have shut down wind grids in the state of Washington with forest fires deep in inaccessible areas because the electric lines don’t handle the load and burn. Same is true of desert miles of mirrored panels too hot to handle and burning up wiring. Why? Because federal regulations are absent on setting standards for distribution of power. Individual power companies are not legally allowed to set standards but must meet standards that are absent. It’s great to be a coffee house revolutionary dreaming of changing the world., but it takes action and it takes a plan instructing those being regulated. The power companies laugh at the wasted millions upon millions because they are only doing this to appease the current White House. Power companies do not count upon actually relying on this power grid that is marginal in impact. The citizens of our country have no idea, because we do not have new journalists, we have lap dogs who “report” press releases as if “news”.

Obama’s Answer To High Gas Prices? Algae! Wow! The Man’s A Genius…. Not!

Just like the BP oil spill, the uprising in Iran from college students in 2010, the so called Arab spring in Egypt, The flooding and tornadoes beginning with Joplin, Mo., Kansas, Oklahoma, (and even blowing off Texas altogether with their wild fires), Barack Obama has always been a few days late to react!

So to have him finally announce his answer to our fuel needs 3 years after taking office and finally after gas prices began to jump 10 cents a day and hit people where it hurts the most, their wallets, its not surprising at all. But what is surprising is… his answer to solve it!

Obama said Thursday in his latest diatribe of nonsense, that drilling for oil to relieve our dependency is not a solution, it’s not a plan and there are no quick fixes. He said we have to go to clean energy…. of course. (Because we all know how well that’s worked so far… See the Solyndra Scam and Windmills that catch fire and kill 400,000 birds every year below) So his answer is really revolutionary and simple….if you happen to be simple and come from fantasy land that is! Because Obama’s answer to our gas problem is…. Algae! A $14 million grant for the development of algae. It’s not oil. His solution is algae!

Stupid us! Who knew that all that crap growing in our pools and on the rocks outside our homes could make us energy independent from the Islamo Nazi’s and make us all millionaires at the same time? Thank God we have Barack Obama! Why would you ever build a pipeline like the Keystone pipeline with real oil from a friendly allies like Canada, to put in real refineries and put in real existing cars when you can use algae? I have a feeling unicorns and pixie dust are not far behind!

But let’s keep in mind that Obama knows all about this Green fairytale just like the other Green Energy fairytales of windmills and solar panels. Because we know that Barack Obama has a Green Energy Wizard called the Secretary of Non Energy Steven Chu, who actually told the Wall Street Journal in September 2008, “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe,” in order to force Americans to drive less. Wow! No wonder Obama picked him! And it seems he’s getting his wish! http://sec.online.wsj.com/article/SB122904040307499791.html

Yes, the same Steven Chu who happens to be a physicist of make believe that won the Nobel Prize, (Just like Obama) and the president knowing all things green said that one of the reasons we should do this is because we can grow algae here in the United States and we have lots of it. Brilliant! No wonder he’s the president and we’re not!

But did you know that In 2010 alone, the Feds doled out $24 million in tax payers dollars for grants to turn algae into fuel? But…Nothing has come out of it! Surprise! Besides, we’ll know when algae is ready for commercial use as fuel because the government will start taxing the hell out it so it’s more expensive than gasoline. http://www.dailyfinance.com/2010/06/29/federal-grant-algae-fuel-research/

——> So don’t worry about gas prices America, Obama is finally on the job and the solution to all your energy woes could be as close as that neglected aquarium in your in your living room! Just sprinkle some magic pixie dust into it and wait for the green gnomes of fantasy land to turn it into gas and then pour it into your government approved and mandated Chevy Volt and you too can travel a whole 15.2 miles before it runs out of power! You gotta love that Hope and Change thing!

Brilliant presentation and I thank you. I still remember as if in slow motion because it was, to see the response of our executive branch to the disaster from the oil leaking in the Gulf waters. The governors were in full action, and the federal response was to tell them to wait for the federal lead that never appeared. Our fearless leader was relying upon the BP data and video feed as being on the scene as he enjoyed himself. The nation was gripped with fear on the scope and scale of this disaster, and the citizens of the area were enraged to see their lives and local economy in peril. The final straw was the tiny distribuition from the $20,000,000,000 and the snail pace of aid. Of course now, we can’t drill anywhere forever because of how the federal safety oversight was botched and snoozing during the Gulf drilling by BP. No one was fired from the Energy Department on their laxity and sloth that killed people and our economy.
