Sen. Ted Lieu – Captain Censorship

I read an article this morning which had me so steamed I ripped off an angry email to Senator Ted Lieu’s office before I even posted this blog entry.  You can too by clicking here. So…What had me so ticked off?

“A state senator from Southern California was considering calling for a boycott of Lowe’s stores after the home improvement chain pulled its advertising from a reality show about Muslim-Americans.

Calling the retail giant’s decision “un-American” and “naked religious bigotry,” Sen. Ted Lieu, D-Torrance, told The Associated Press on Sunday that he would also consider legislative action if Lowe’s doesn’t apologize to Muslims and reinstate its ads. The senator sent a letter outlining his complaints to Lowe’s Chief Executive Officer Robert A. Niblock.”

The apology doesn’t go far enough, Lieu said. The senator vowed to look into whether Lowe’s violated any California laws and said he would also consider drafting a senate resolution condemning the company’s actions.

“We want to raise awareness so that consumers will know during this holiday shopping season that Lowe’s is engaging in religious discrimination,” he said.

In addition to an apology and reinstatement of the ads, Lieu said he hoped Lowe’s would make an outreach to the community about bias and bigotry.”

My initial reaction: How dare he?

My follow-up reaction: This is in line with the Obama administrations attempts to sanitize and censor opposition to Islam in the United States.

Yep, this jackwagon Senator is pulling a thought police maneuver here and trying to bully a legal business into following his own personal prescription of political correctness. Hi, Senator… perhaps you are new here, but that’s called coercion and censorship. This isn’t the Netherlands where you can label certain types of speech a crime. Speaking out in whatever manner suits you or your business is protected so long as it follows the law. In fact, our very first Amendment protects speech and religious freedom.  It seems to me, from the Senator’s own comments, that he feels like the law needs to be changed in order to punish Lowes for being legally free to choose where to spend its advertising time and money. In fact, his comments sound a lot to me like the Senator would like to make criticizing Islam a crime.

Hey Senator, perhaps you should study up on Dearborn a bit before you open your yap. You can start at Dearborn Underground. The fact this site exists is a testament to the atmosphere in Dearborn. Once you’re done looking around there, try Creeping Sharia, Answering Muslims and Jihad Watch. In terms of offensiveness, your ignorance just narrowly trumps your attempted censorship and violation of Lowes’ rights.

Also, seeing is believing so take a look at these videos:

To quote Geert Wilders:

“Do you know why America is in a better state than Europe? Because you enjoy more freedom than Europeans.

And do you know why Americans enjoy more freedom than Europeans? Because you are still allowed to tell the truth.

In Europe and Canada people are dragged to court for telling the truth about islam.”

Wilders is right about our freedom… for now. Senator Lieu just proposed curtailing that freedom. What are you going to do about it? Will you speak up or will you just shake your head and say, “how sad” or “that’s terrible” and then go about your merry way?

What we tolerate today will become the norm of tomorrow.

  5. So glad you did this story as you must have been in my head this morning when i read the same story!!! I am so tired of people claiming LIBERTY and then trying to with the same breath prevent it!! Good show and thanks for bringing this to everyone’s attention! Much love and Blessings ; )

  6. Well the 0 admin set the precedent by trying to force Boeing to only open business in forced unionization states, so this islamoblow is simply following his master’s lead. CRAPTASTICs are all totalitarians (that’s what one of the t’s stand for in the acronym) and using the government to force private citizens and businesses to push a political agenda against their will is simply WHAT THEY DO. Expect much more of the same until we rid ourselves of this pestilence in our “leadership”.

    • Yep! Between sanitizing training materials, news reports and squeezing businesses like Boeing, this administration has led the way in assaulting freedom and liberty in this country.
