I Am Not McLovin’ It.

From The Telegraph UK: “McDonald’s has been praised by Michelle Obama after announcing it will automatically include a portion of fruit in children’s Happy Meals and reduce servings of French fries.” Translation: McDonalds Caved to Michelle Obama.

For more than 30 years, the Happy Meal has been around. You ate one at some point most likely, just like every other kid. Along comes Michelle Obama and well, “We just can’t leave it up to Parents.”

Well early on, the American people pushed back and told the hypocritical FLOTUS where to stick her Cheeseburger.  The FLOTUS decided to make it clear for us stupid parents: The Federal Government will decide for you. Her campaign against childhood obesity, Let’s Move, has not been about helping parents and kids make informed choices, but about dictating what choices we are ALLOWED to have.  We’ve all seen the farcical ‘Food Deserts‘ she has pushed, which begs the question “are we starving or are we obese?”

Stories crop up here and there about  food retailers and restaurants ‘joining forces‘ with her campaign, but the reality is they are being strong-armed and pressured by the FLOTUS and her cohorts. You see reports of towns waging war on McDonalds and the Happy Meal toy and think what a nutty town it is. More likely a little bird wearing a boob belt whispered in their ear about how horrible it was that kids were being bribed to eat badly with a toy. Funnily enough, Burger King, Chik-Fil-A and Wendy’s didn’t suffer such a ban? McDonalds posted the most jobs a couple of months back, hmmm! Looks like the pressure continued after the toy ban fiasco to see McDonalds caving now. Afterall, it’s the Obama way to punish your enemies.

It’s all in the name of ‘saving us from ourselves’ as the Dems and progressives so love to do. She’s dressed it up nicely with terms like ‘Healthful Eating’ but when you boil it down, she’s choosing FOR you. She’s got $10 Billion dollars behind her for PSA’s (many hijacked) and ‘awareness conferences’ aimed to shove around you, me and any restaurant, retailer or chain she chooses to target.

I’m all for educating the public on what the content of a food item is. Listing the calorie count is a good idea too. We already do both of those things. These are options that allow the consumer to decide. That’s a basic component of a free market economy. Forcing restaurants and stores to run things her way instead of allowing them to operate within the already above mentioned parameters is, well… fascist.  This is a rather insidious attack, using political correctness in tandem with Social Justice to slash at our liberty and Michelle Obama is totally McLovin’ it.
