I mentioned in my previous post, Circling the Demographic Wagons, that we’d see Obama slinking around the groups he most needed in order to mount a successful 2012 bid. His first WTF 2012 advertisement hit some of the ones I mentioned, the gay community notably being left out of that ad. Recently we’ve seen him add to the list of demographics with a scrambling return to make nice with the minority Black and Hispanic vote. In the last week we’ve seen the signs of desperation as Obama included hitting Al Sharpton’s event in his stumping rounds. Obama managed to steer clear of Sharpton in 2008 and it’s almost comedy to see him embracing him now.
Barry has the back of his Union pals and their wallets as he flat-out ignored and went as far as to oppose a pretty important education program – the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program which has been resurrected in Congress. Maybe this slap down of the OSP and the negative reaction from the minority community has something to do with his outreach to Sharpton? It will be alright though, MSNBC has Barry’s back on this one. You didn’t think that meeting Obama had with the big TV network heads in NYC was for fun did you? Why not buy up media opinions like he has bought up Google result searches?
I am sure the next few events and subsequent quotes from Obama will probably be in Florida with retirees and/or seniors. Don’t count out the ‘young’ vote either. Obama didn’t meet with Facebook and Apple for nothing you know. Town Halls on Facebook for dealing with the budget and videos condolences on YouTube are how one Wins The Future!
