I spotted an article this evening with a video accompanying it. The Unions continue their Occupy style assault on business. Instead of students with ipads and laptops in tents who have no jobs, Unions are now yanking employed people out of their jobs to tow the occupy line. Lord knows what the Unions promised these people. The title of the video (below) is “Stand Up, Live Better. It’s a play on Wal-Mart’s corporate logo, Save money. Live Better.[youtube=http://youtu.be/caV-m1wq6Vc]
Did you make it to the end without yelling, “Be glad you have a job!”? If you did, you’re one up on me.
Some comments on the video and the main complaint seems to be ‘being treated unfairly':
Signs that say, “On strike for Freedom”. You have the freedom to go get another job?
“Favoritism and unfair scheduling.” Welcome to employment?
“Because the Walton family has as much wealth as 45 million American families.” Hey, a real occupier slipped in there.
One woman complains she is tired of “being discriminate by management.” Sadly, Perhaps it’s because English is clearly not her first language. Maybe it is because she seems prickly even in a 10 second clip.
Want to know how you can support this gaggle of useful idiots striking while millions of people are out of work and would gladly take their jobs? Keep reading. From NC State AFL-CIO:
Here’s how you can support them
Something big is happening at Walmart. American workers at the largest retailer in the world are finally reaching their resistance point and walking off the job to protest low-wages, poor working conditions, a lack of respect on the job, and retaliation against them for their efforts to make change at Walmart.
Now just in time for the official beginning of the holiday shopping season, Black Friday, Walmart workers across the country – from warehouses to stores – will be going on strike.
Making the Black Friday action a success will need community support. Here’s what you can do to help:
Take the Black Friday pledge not to shop at Walmart, AND
Show your support for Walmart workers in person by finding a solidarity action near you.
Sponsor a striker by making a donation to their strike fund.
Black Friday solidarity action in Durham
Triangle Jobs with Justice is organizing a solidarity action at Walmart at the New Hope Commons shopping center in Durham beginning at 11 AM on Black Friday.
What: Strike support rally at Walmart
When: Friday, November 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM
Where: New Hope Commons shopping center, 5450 New Hope Commons Drive, Durham, NC 27707
They want Justice!
When do they want it? NOW!
I wonder if they will chant, ‘Hey Hey! HO HO!” The double entendre was too juicy, I just couldn’t help myself. I just find the timing of this strike to be incredibly stupid. This economy is NOT a time when you want to be out of work. I am sure there are things wrong with Wal-Mart. We’ve all heard the stories about keeping workers part-time so they don’t qualify for health coverage. In a way, Wal-Mart looks like they were ahead of the Obamacare part-time employee curve. Irony!
I can hear the loudspeaker announcement now, as hundreds of shoppers lined up outside jockeying for position to be one of the first ones in turn on the picketing workers. It might sound something like this:
Attention Wal-Mart Shoppers,
Your Black Friday shopping will be interrupted by chanting employees who apparently are fed up and don’t want their jobs. I am certain many of you here attempting to shop are probably looking for work. We now have a lot of openings. See the manager for details.
P.S. Wal-Mart is out of Twinkies.
P. S. S. Hey, didn’t Wal-Mart just give a bunch of cash to Obama? Also, isn’t Wal-Mart suing the NRLB? Why yes, yes they did and yes they are. Continue reading
