Tag Archives: Benghazi Hearing
This past week, two of Hillary Clinton’s underlings testified in her place before the Oversight committee regarding Benghazi. Clinton herself was unable to attend because she conveniently took a tumble just days before said hearing. We’re supposed to just accept that and let her glide by until she ends her term in January sometime, when she becomes a private citizen again. If called to testify then, my bet is she will likely take the 5th. I hope she doesn’t intend to run in 2016. If she thinks dodging this now is better than testifying or in this will some way inoculate her from scrutiny down the road, she’s kidding herself.
The Accountability Board report was out and it found some fall guys to take the heat instead of President Obama. That was the purpose of the Accountability Board no matter how Jay Carney tries to dodge it. The board found “systematic management and leadership failures”. I know, you’re as shocked as I was by that finding. In the testimony of the two men assigned as Clinton firewalls, Burns and Nides, they can’t help but point to Clinton and potentially the President knowing full well that the Benghazi consulate was vulnerable. They’re going to need some resignations to sate this committee. FOX News:
A top State Department official acknowledged Thursday that cables warning of serious security concerns at the U.S. compound in Benghazi went to department headquarters – and possibly to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s office – in the months leading up to the deadly Sept. 11 attack.
Deputy Secretary of State Williams Burns, testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said the cables “would have been reviewed up through the assistant secretary level, and it may be that some of my colleagues on the seventh floor saw them as well.” The seventh floor refers to Clinton’s office.
Further, Burns confirmed “there were certainly memos” that came to Clinton’s office describing some of the dozens of security incidents in the region before the attack that claimed four American lives.
The confirmation Thursday comes after Fox News first reported in October on one cable addressed to Clinton’s office said the U.S. Mission in Benghazi convened an “emergency meeting” less than a month before the attack because Al Qaeda had training camps in Benghazi and the consulate could not defend against a “coordinated attack.”
But Fox News are big, fat liars according to Mini-Gibbs Carney:[youtube=http://youtu.be/xZZ9cxBCcG8]
Back to the Accountability report and testimony.
Oh hey, look…Some resignations! With the Accountability report also came four resignations. Four is a nice round number to take the blame for what was ultimately the role, responsibility and fault of the President and Hillary Clinton. Perhaps the number if more symbolic – four resignations for four murdered Americans. NY Times:
Eric J. Boswell, the assistant secretary of state for diplomatic security, resigned. Charlene R. Lamb, the deputy assistant secretary responsible for embassy security, and another official in the diplomatic security office whom officials would not identify were relieved of their duties. So was Raymond Maxwell, a deputy assistant secretary who had responsibility for North Africa. The four officials, a State Department spokeswoman said, “have been placed on administrative leave pending further action.”
I want to know who the other official they would not name is. The article says they resigned or were relieved of duty, yet they are placed on administrative leave as well? Does that mean they’re being paid for their trouble of playing the part of scapegoats?
One of the most glaring omissions from the Accountability Board’s report were just two little words: Susan Rice. She served her part as the face that lied to a nation to cover up the death of four Americans. Time to sweep it under the carpet. No more reporting on her role, run along now. Being a minority female in a position of related power relative to the State Department, she was the perfect choice to trot out and tell a massive lie. Any questioning of it would result in the junkyard dog display by the President, subsequent lack of concern, and faux horror from the Democrats — how dare you be so racist and sexist as to point out Rice knowingly lied her ass off to the nation?
Two other little words not found in the report: YOUTUBE VIDEO. By the way, Nakoula got off easy.

I think there are going to be a lot of backpedaling Democrats and Lefty talking heads. I wonder if Nancy Pelosi and her troop of ‘women for Susan Rice’ will acknowledge the news or just stick their heads in their ladyparts and yell ‘LA LA LA LA CAN’T HEAR YOU!’.
It’s sexist, no matter what to this cabal of Julias who are setting women back about 60 years. None of their complaints explains why she was sent out there in the first place. We’ll come back to the Democrats and their closing ranks around Rice again in this post.
But all of their protesting, race card playing and cries of sexism, as well as Obama’s indignant defending the Damsel in distress act, are for naught. Petraeus testified yesterday and he pretty much put the buck back on Obama’s desk.
BOOM: President told within 72 hours Benghazi attack linked to al-Qaida extremists
Excerpt emphasis added:
U.S. intelligence told President Barack Obama and senior administration officials within 72 hours of the Benghazi tragedy that the attack was likely carried out by local militia and other armed extremists sympathetic to al-Qaida in the region, officials directly familiar with the information told the Washington Guardian on Friday.

Well, the election is over and Benghazi is still here. I’m taking a break from full time blogging, but Benghazi is something I cannot let go without comment nor should any other American out there. We’re being lied to both by this administration and by the media. Having said that, we’ve had some interesting revelations in the last few days.
Days before the election, CBS admits they held back comments made by President Obama in an interview for 60 minutes given the day after the attacks (9/12). Breitbart via Powerline:
Over at the Breitbart portal, Joel Pollak writes about footage from the 9/12 60 Minutes interview with Barack Obama that CBS left on the cutting room floor until this week. Like so much of the media formerly known as mainstream, CBS News is a hotbed of rabid leftists carefully reporting all the news that fits. At 60 Minutes, the situation is reductio ad absurdum. As Sarah Hoyt observes: “Whether we win or lose, we must make sure the mainstream media are done. The [D]emocrats can pay for their own operatives.”
Even more worthy of note is the stark relief in which this footage places Obama’s continuing liberties with the truth. As Obama’s foremost campaign surrogate put it yesterday: “Who wants a president who will knowingly, repeatedly tell you something he knows isn’t true?” (Dr. Krauthammer, call your office.)
I am taking the liberty of posting Pollak’s report below for the record. Pollak writes:
In an astonishing display of media malpractice, CBS News quietly released proof–two days before the election, far too late to reach the media and the public–that President Barack Obama lied to the public about the Benghazi attack, as well as about his later claim to have called the attack “terrorism” from the beginning.
CBS unveiled additional footage from its 60 Minutes interview with President Obama, conducted on Sep. 12 immediately after Obama had made his statement about the attacks in the Rose Garden, in which Obama quite clearly refuses to call the Benghazi an act of terror when asked a direct question by reporter Steve Kroft:
KROFT: Mr. President, this morning you went out of your way to avoid the use of the word terrorism in connection with the Libya Attack, do you believe that this was a terrorism attack?
OBAMA: Well it’s too early to tell exactly how this came about, what group was involved, but obviously it was an attack on Americans. And we are going to be working with the Libyan government to make sure that we bring these folks to justice, one way or the other.
CBS covered for the President. I am sure other outlets did as well. There is no other way to look at this. Hoyt is correct and I’ve already issued this as one of two things I will be pursuing in 2013: Media Bias.
I do not think CBS is alone in this. I think CNN has more to tell as I’ve written before. We also now have an investigation into information leaked to the NY Times:
It’s also starting to look a bit like the Obama administration was running a Middle East version of Fast and Furious; running guns to rebels, specifically in Syria.
Moving on to the upcoming hearings… Continue reading
From Jim Treacher:
By the way, the guy who made the YouTube video that didn’t cause Benghazi just got a year in jail
I realize it doesn’t matter anymore, if it ever did. But it’s worth at least a footnote in the glorious annals of the Obama administration.
The filmmaker behind “Innocence of Muslims,” the anti-Islam film that sparked rioting across the globe*, was sentenced Wednesday to a year behind bars after he admitted to violating the terms of his release from an earlier conviction.
[Name withheld because this is bullshit] admitted to four violations, including lying to his probation officer and using bogus names. In exchange, prosecutors dropped four other counts, which included allegations that [he] lied to federal authorities in telling them his role in the film’s production was limited to writing the script.
*SNIP* You will have to go to Treacher’s post and read his spot on comments.
I may be on break, but I’m not letting this story go. By the way, House & Senate convening a hearing on Benghazi and it’s set for the 15th.

The State Department and the Obama Administration have lied to Americans about what happened in Benghazi for weeks now. Why should the hearings yesterday be any different?[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6aXewSM0M4&feature=youtu.be]
In the opening statements at the Oversight Committee’s hearing on Benghazi yesterday, the tone was set by Democrat Elijah Cummings, who could not remember the correct name of the Ambassador that was assassinated:
“We grieve the loss of Ambassador Christopher Smith.” – Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD)
Shades of Fast and Furious there; Carney forgot Brian Terry’s name too. The same stonewalling is now being put into place as well.:[youtube=http://youtu.be/iI-q9BaPYeI] [youtube=http://youtu.be/uBfwmzhrPLg]
This fumbling of Stevens’ name added injury to insult, as Cummings attempted to redirect testimony to place blame on Republicans for the actions and inactions of the State Department. The theme being that it was cut funding that was to blame for the lack of security for Ambassador Stevens and his staff.
Cummings tries to coax Charlene Lamb out of her prior admission that budget factors did not play into her refusal to up security. #benghazi
— Michelle Malkin (@michellemalkin) October 10, 2012
State Dept’s Charlene Lamb, asked if budget cuts had anything to do with security decisions, said “No, sir.”
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper)
The question was asked and the answer was given – budget was not the reason, yet Cummings went down that path anyway. Despicable.:
First a movie is to blame, now it’s funding? No, plain and simple it was a willful ignorance of the facts and refusal to act by the State Department that is to blame. This State Department and administration cut security and military presence in the area to the bone all on their own, despite the rise in activity there and despite the pleading for more security by Stevens in the weeks leading up to 9/11.
Jake Tapper didn’t drop the ball and came at Carney after the hearing, asking whether or not it was Obama who shot first and aimed later. Carney rebuffed and tried to throw blame on Mitt Romney for the White House’s statements that this wasn’t terrorism but was a movie protest instead. For a full picture of what went down in the White House briefing, including video, read: Tapper to WH on Benghazi: So, wouldn’t it be President Obama who shot first and aimed later? « Hot Air
