Remembering Pan Am 103

I was a senior in High school when Pan Am 103 went down. I didn’t know anyone on board personally, but it scared me and saddened me all the same. There were Syracuse University students on board that flight. I, at the time, was considering Syracuse to attend the following year and I did end up going there.

This video is a reminder for the Remembrance gathering this year on October 27th. It opens with video of the news reporting the bombing. It is the same one I watched as a teenager.

Now as an adult, I’ve watched in anger and sadness as those who were responsible smell the air of freedom. This administration and State Department backed it.  Abdelbeset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi lived for 2 years, freely, on ‘compassionate’ release. Where was the compassion for the families who lost a loved one on Flight 103? 270 people died and al Megrahi was released to live out the rest of his life in Libya.

How quickly we forget. At least some of us.
