I WOULD RATHER WE JUST ABOLISHED COPYRIGHT ENTIRELY THAN ENGAGE IN THIS TRAVESTY: “Reminiscent of buggy whip manufacturers taking legal action against auto makers, the former U.S. Register of Copyrights, Ralph Oman, has given an amicus brief in the Aereo case (PDF) stating that all new content-delivery technology should be presumed illegal unless and until it is approved by Congress. He adds that providers of new technology should be forced to apply to Congress to prove they don’t upset existing business models.”
My first reaction contained profanity. This blog post is my second reaction.
‘Dear Ralph Oman, or should I call you Wesley Mouch? Atlas Shrugged was a cautionary tale, not a how-to book. The idea that Congress should be in charge of our television providers and the content therein, in what you deem from your brief to be in the interest of fairness, is insane. This is the anti-dog-eat-dog rule come to life.
As Professor Reynolds would say, “TAR. FEATHERS.” I’d add running you out of town to that.

Over at Creeping Sharia, this headline screamed at me:
Obama sends Gitmo terrorist who killed at least one American soldier back to Canada
More information on his whereabouts is likely to be released once he arrives on Canadian soil. The Khadr saga began more than a decade ago, in June 2002, on a battlefield in Afghanistan. The 15-year-old was shot and captured by an American Special Forces unit following a lengthy battle where U.S. Delta Force Sgt. Christopher Speer was fatally wounded.
Khadr is the second youngest son of now deceased Egyptian-born Canadian, Ahmed Said Khadr, who was close with Al Qaeda’s elite. The Khadr family’s unpopularity overshadowed much of his case.
In October 2010, Khadr pleaded guilty before a Guantanamo military tribunal to five war crimes, including “murder in the violation of war” for Speer’s death. He received an 8-year-sentence and a diplomatic agreement from Ottawa that after one more year he would be transferred to Canada in return for the plea deal.
A colleague of mine, Liberty Speaks, has provided me with the DoD dossier on Khader. In this dossier, Khader is considered a high risk detainee and recommends he not be released. Also, his father is a senior Al Qaeda member:
Detainee’s father is a senior Al-Qaida financier and reportedly the fourth in command underneath Usama Bin Laden in the Al-Qaida organization. The detainee and his brother were encouraged to travel to Afghanistan and fight against the US in support of Al-Qaida and the Taliban.
One has to wonder if Khader will land back in his land of origin like Eiad Salameh. Meanwhile, the scapegoat remains locked up in maximum security isolation.

SCAPEGOATING NAKOULAS: “He’s going to be confined in a special unit where he’d be in a solitary cell, locked up alone and in maddening isolation.”
Remember all the people who were upset when this happened to actual terrorists? They’re nowhere to be heard now, when it’s being done to someone whose role is scapegoat for the White House’s national-security ineptitude.

I got my copy of Occupy Unmasked in the mail on Friday. I watched it later that night and here are my thoughts.
Some of the conclusions of the film, that Occupy is not done and that violence is on the way along with a following potential race war, remain to be seen. Given what we’ve seen so far and who is running the show behind the scenes, the violence aspect of it is more than plausible. Occupy is a campaign of intimidation through confusion, violence and lawlessness. I guess that is why President Obama has given it his blessing. Continue reading
