I’ve been away from my computer for most of the day and got back to find an email from Zilla that set me to furiously clacking away at my keyboard.  This crap can’t stand. This is way out of hand and beyond the pale. I’m getting ahead of myself, so let’s back up.

By now I’m sure most people have read about the dangerous tactic back in vogue at the moment with Lefties like Brett Kimberlin, Neal Rauhauser and their minions called SWAT-ing. For those that haven’t, SWAT-ing is when someone called 911 and tells the dispatcher that you are Mr. Smith (Insert target’s name) and that you just killed your wife, girlfriend or whoever. SWAT shows up to your house and busts down the door and chaos ensues.  It’s scary as Hell and dangerous.  That’s offline in the real world. What these people are doing online is more insidious and far reaching. Impersonations, identity theft, hacking -  It’s basically Online SWAT-ing that last and lasts.

These people have gone after Aaron Walker, Stacy McCain, Patrick Frey, Ali Akbar and most recently, Erick Erickson, among many others. Now they are after The Lonely Conservative.  An excerpt of her post:

Connecting the Dots on the Ongoing Harassment

If you’re a regular reader you’re aware of the harassment I’ve endured since the Top 25 Political Moms contest this past spring. It all started when a few of us conservative bloggers noticed that the progressive bloggers were extremely far-left and they were telling their readers to vote for their blogs because they wouldn’t want a conservative winning and spreading “dangerous family values.” Well, that got our ire up a little bit, so we responded in kind, and dubbed some of them “commie mommies.” It’s not like one or two of them didn’t already refer to themselves that way, so we didn’t see any harm in it. No big deal, right? To make a long story short, they tried to get us disqualified, so we all agreed to remove any negative posts about the competition.

You would think the story would have ended there, but it didn’t. That’s where it begins. (This is the “civil” left we’re dealing with, remember.) Before the contest ended, people using fake IP addresses started trying to post vile, rotten comments here. The comments all were put in a cue awaiting moderation and each was automatically emailed to me individually. On the night I found out I had won the contest I was at an event at my son’s school. I checked my email and the first one that appeared was a comment calling me the “c” word, and it wasn’t “commie mommy.” It turns out that was one of the nicer comments they’ve left.

Since then I’ve amassed nearly one hundred pages of disgusting, hateful and threatening messages. They’ve said that I (and all of you conservative readers) have no place in this world. They’ve told me to slit my own throat. They’ve called me every foul name you can think of.

Sick, deranged and criminal. I’m both angry and terrified for what these people have been through and for what The Lonely Conservative is going through now. I feel like I’m watching a horror flick designed for Conservative Bloggers. As scared as I am for her – and for myself and others like us – I’m still not shutting up.
